HSA presents the world premiere of Suite Harlem by Grammy Award nominee and pianist/composer Adegoke Steve Colson

Adegoke Steve Colson’s Suite Harlem feat Iqua Colson, Freddie Hendrix, J.D. Parran, Marlene Rice, Bryan Carrott & Luke Stewart

Suite Harlem, is an original composition for octet, written and dedicated to the Harlem School of the Arts by pianist, composer, and Jazz Road Creative. Residency Recipient Adegoke Steve Colson.

This premiere is the culmination of the Afternoon Jazz @ HSA series created in partnership with Mr. Colson and Harlem School of the Arts, and is made possible with the support of Jazz Road, a national initiative of South Arts, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The premiere of Suite Harlem features: Adegoke Steve Colson, composer, piano; Iqua Colson, voice; Freddie Hendrix, trumpet; J.D. Parran, bass clarinet; Marlene Rice, violin; Bryan Carrott, vibes; Luke Stewart, bass; and Pheeroan akLaff, drums. Plus performances by students from the HSA Theater Department (Chesney Snow, Chair), and the HSA Dance Department (Leyland Simmons, Chair).
