SEM Orchestra Conductor Petr Kotik performs music of the AACM NYC Composers including the work of pianist/composer Adegoke Steve Colson

The S.E.M. Ensemble, under the direction of Petr Kotik, has been collaborating with AACM since 1995, when they performed at the Society for Ethical Culture pieces for orchestra by Amina Claudine Myers and Roscoe Mitchell. At the invitation of Muhal Richard Abrams, The Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble continued to perform orchestra scores at the Ethical Society, music by George Lewis, Wadada Leo Smith, Joseph Jarman, Henry Threadgill and Muhal Richard Abrams. In 2015, the S.E.M. Ensemble participated in the series of concerts celebrating the 50th anniversary of AACM. The Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble performed two out of the four concerts of the series, orchestra music by George Lewis, Henry Threadgill. Roscoe Mitchell, and Muhal Richard Abrams.
